Prepare your heart to be melted!

I received a phone call this past week from Castaway Critters, asking if I could take some photos of two very special young kitties.  These siblings were born without eye lids and have endured great pain over the past few months of their young lives.  Castaway Critters took these two kittens in and are providing them with the reconstructive surgery they need.  Unfortunately, this surgery is quite costly so they are seeking donations from the public.

These two kittens are beyond amazing.  Despite their pain and discomfort they are calm, affectionate, friendly, confident and they love children and even dogs.  Here are some pictures of these two incredibly adorable little fur babies, along with information on how to donate to their cause.  You can also visit their website for information on other ways to help!  http://www.castawaycritters.org/

LADYBUG – the little girl with the BIG purr!

BEAR – as sweet and curious as can be!

And Catie… my trusty assistant!

Lady Bug and Bear were born without eyelids…
We often don’t appreciate the simple things in life…our eyelids keep our eyes clean and protected. Without them, we would live in pain, with dry, irritated eyes and we would eventually go blind!

Lady Bug and Bear are experiencing life without eyelids.  They were abandoned locally and were lucky enough to come into the care of Castaway Critters.  But, these little kittens were born without a means to keep their eyes clean…that annoying blinking is actually extremely necessary for eye health!
You can make a difference in the fate of these little guys!
Even a small donation will help!  The surgery to reconstruct eyelids for these guys must be done by a specialist in Canine and Feline Opthalmology in Norristown.
Lady Bug and Bear will be traveling there for their first consultation on Sunday and just the first office visit costs about $240.  We are looking at several $1000s to complete the process of reconstruction, even though the vet provides a modest discount for animals in rescue!
Lady Bug and Bear are sweet kittens that otherwise love life at their foster home.  They have no other health issues and they deserve a chance to be happy and healthy.  Castaway Critters always tries to go the extra mile for these special needs animals, but we can only do so with your help!

Make a Donation

In the unlikely circumstance that donations required for Bear and Lady Bug are  more than meet their needs, donations will be put toward the veterinary care of other sick and abandoned animals.

All About Bea

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged about some of what goes on here at the Chardo home, so today I decided to give my blog some lovin’ and post a few pictures of one of my fur babies.  This is Beatrice.  We call her “Bea” or “Beezie” for short.  Bea is a Beagle mix (we think she has some Jack Russell in her) that we adopted from one of our local rescues, Castaway Critters.  I’m very fond of Castaway because it is where we adopted our other fur baby, Phoebe.  She’s our beloved cat.  So, you see, Bea was pulled from a shelter in West Virginia by an extremely devoted foster parent at Castaway Critters.  Little Bea was due to be euthanized in a matter of days because she has cataracts in each of her eyes.  The problem is that she is only two years old, and most two year olds don’t have cataracts.  So they deemed her “un-adoptable” because of her eyes.  Sad, I know.  But along came Castaway Critters and pulled this little girl from a very dire situation and shipped her up here where she would spend a week with a foster parent before coming to us.  I knew I was smitten when the truck pulled into the driveway and little Bea was sitting upright in the front passenger seat, looking straight ahead out the window, checking out the neighborhood that would soon become her own.  She hopped out, came inside for a visit, and never left!  We love her!  She’s calm and quiet, playful, housebroken, sweet as can be, and loves… LOVES… going for walks and taking trips in the car.  She’s our girl!  The only teensy weensy problem we had was that, unlike all the other members of our family, she was not very fond of the camera.  Hard to believe, I know!  So it’s taken some time to be able to snap a picture without her heading for the hills.  But today I took her outside on this gorgeous sunny day and as we approached the spot for picture taking, she sat right down and looked right at me, as if to say “Okay… I got this!”   So here she is, in her first ever “official” photo session, miss Beatrice Chardo!   (I’m so proud of her!)  🙂

Beautiful Girl!

I enjoyed a fun session in Halifax yesterday and had the opportunity to meet the beautiful Lauren and her lovely mama!  Such a delightful and gorgeous young lady!   And even Bunky took part in our photo session, so that was a double treat for me!

Thank you, Lauren, for all of your incredible patience with me!  🙂  Enjoy your sneak peek!
