It’s a Beautiful Morning!

Let’s face it.  Some mornings are simply just better than others.  And for me, this is one of them.  But how can it not be a great morning when you wake up to this?

My biggest fan by far, my daughter Catie, is constantly inspiring me and giving me new, fresh ideas for my work.  I love her!  And with that, I wanted to mention that I still have some availability for May, so if you haven’t yet booked your spring session, hurry up and call or email me.  I’ve already started booking June as well.  AND, I know this may seem silly being that it’s only spring, but if you plan on some family photos or cards for the holidays, now is the time to book that too!  The end of summer and fall sessions book up VERY quickly, so if you want to stake your claim, call me soon!  And as always, thank you for visiting my blog.  (and feel free to leave your comments for any of the beautiful little models that grace the pages of my blog.  They are the real treasures of our lives!).

Christine, I just saw this and am smiling from ear to ear. Your Catie is so smart and artistic. I love her drawing. So cute!

Happy Birthdays To You!

April is a big month for these two adorable kiddos!  Kate and Jack share a birthday month and I was super happy when their mom asked me to take some birthday photos of them this year.  I photographed them last summer with Mom and Dad, but this year it was just the kids, celebrating those two special occasions… their birthdays!  I just love spending time with this delightful sister and brother duo because they are so incredibly smitten with each other, and always laughing together and pleasant and sweet to one another.  Thank you Kate and Jack for once again letting me take your pictures this afternoon.  It’s always such a treat for me to be in your company, and I hope you both have a super year ahead that’s filled with all the things you love the most!  Happy Birthdays!!!!

Beautiful Girl!

I enjoyed a fun session in Halifax yesterday and had the opportunity to meet the beautiful Lauren and her lovely mama!  Such a delightful and gorgeous young lady!   And even Bunky took part in our photo session, so that was a double treat for me!

Thank you, Lauren, for all of your incredible patience with me!  🙂  Enjoy your sneak peek!

Angel in the Garden

In just a few short weeks, sweet Maggie will be making her First Holy Communion!  It was so much fun seeing this beautiful little girl seem to flutter around the gardens yesterday like a peaceful little angel.  So for this session, I decided to name my blog post after one of my favorite poems, instead of one of my favorite songs, which I typically tend to do.  It’s a beautiful poem and I thought it was fitting, especially since my Saturday session took place in the garden, with this sweet little angel named Maggie.  🙂

So here is the poem, followed by a sneak peek from our afternoon together.  Enjoy!

Angel in the Peacock Garden

I built a garden, brick-by-brick
a place to sit and pray
And as I planted each new bud
I’d closed my eyes to say

Dear angel in my garden
please listen to my prayer
and lift these words up to the Lord
for children everywhere

I built a garden, day-by-day
a place to find my way
And as I tended to each plant
I’d hear the angels say,

Dear mother in the garden
we’ve listened to your prayer
the Lord will help in his own way
have patience, don’t dispare

I pull the weeds and fertilize
the roses reach the sky
and as I pray I feel the angels
as they pass on by

Dear God in Heaven, thank you for
your guidance that you send
through angels in my garden
this holy place I tend.

Such precious memories. Sweet, sweet face. Beautiful images!

The Sweetest Thing!

As you know (or maybe don’t know), most of the titles of my postings are named after songs I like.  I had a hard time with this one because there were a few that came to mind.  “It’s a Miracle” (yes, I admit, I am a Culture Club fan and a proud teenager of the 80’s) was the first song that came to mind because during my session yesterday afternoon with the sweet little Alexis, I kept thinking to myself that it was indeed a miracle that this tiny just-over-two-year-old was not fussing, or whining, or crying because of the chilly temperature outside.  “Freeze Frame” was another song that came to mind because it was just short of freezing out there it seemed, under the blanket of clouds, even though the forecast had originally called for some sun that afternoon.  Well, I finally decided to name my posting, simply, “The Sweetest Thing”.  Not only because I am a huge U2 fan, but because little Lexi was nothing short of the Sweetest Thing during our session late yesterday afternoon.  Despite the chill in the air, and despite the fact that her little body was at times shivering while she and I hunted for the bunny in the grass, she was a complete little angel the entire time!  I photographed Lexi last year with her cousins when she was just a tiny little peanut, so I was super excited to take some more pictures of her and her delightful mommy and daddy.  So here is the sneak peek I promised little Lexi.  I hope you like your pictures, sweetheart!  You are a beautiful little girl and The Sweetest Thing ever!
